- St Mary's Hospital, Surgical Innovation Centre
This course is specifically aimed at core surgical trainees and foundation doctors with an interest in surgery who want to improve their confidence in performing essential laparoscopic procedures and skills.
One day focused laparoscopic skills course using animal tissues with the opportunity to perform a realistic simulation of a laparoscopic appendicectomy and cholecystectomy as well as intracorporeal suturing.
Places will be limited to ensure a low supervisor to trainee ratio.
Most core-trainees have extensive experience in theatre however this is often limited to camera holding or performing a specific aspect of a procedure. This course will give trainees the opportunity to practice the entirety of several key procedures on realistic animal tissue models while receiving feedback and instruction in a more relaxed environment than theatre.
By the end of the course, trainees should have had enough confidence to perform these procedures with a scrubbed trainer.
The course is being held at St Mary's Hospital Surgical Innovation Centre, 2nd Floor, Paterson Building, South Wharf Road, London W2 1BL
